"Wolf" in Forton
I am very proud to have my carving created in a reproduction cast. There are many steps and materials are involved in making my cast edition Wolf panel. The first is to create a rubber mold from the the original Red Cedar Carving.
The next step is to apply a layer of composite that contains metal shavings, which is then backed up with a polymer resin, gypsum and fiberglass composite.
Many patinas can be created from the metal shavings to create a look and feel of bronze or steel without the weight.
Forton is a style that is used in cast sculpture in both Northwest coast and western sculpture cultures.
